ABOUT

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Capital Fellows is an advanced leadership and discipleship program for recent college graduates. Through graduate courses, a paid internship, one-on-one mentoring and many leadership and community service opportunities, fellows develop and apply their gifts in real-world situations while learning to integrate a Christian worldview into all areas of life. Capital Fellows is a unique opportunity to live and work in Washington DC and to be an active member of a supportive community that seeks to serve the city with the love of Christ. It is also a unique opportunity to get hands-on experience in the workplace while deeply exploring God’s design for us as workers and contributors to human flourishing.

The Capital Fellows Program is Built Around Four Themes:

Recent graduates, even those that have worked for a year or two, often have questions about the meaning and purpose of their work. They wonder what God wants them to do with their lives and how they can serve Him in their professions. Capital Fellows is an opportunity to deeply explore these questions through study and hands-on work experience in a paid internship.

Vocation and Career

Capital Fellows is, at its core, a leadership development program that helps fellows develop their leadership abilities and style. Through graduate coursework, discussion and hands-on service opportunities at McLean Presbyterian Church and community service partners in the Washington DC area, fellows learn to lead with a sense of purpose.

Leadership Development

As Christians, we are called to serve Christ by serving others. Capital Fellows provides many opportunities to develop eyes for the needs of others and to show them the love of Christ. Fellows are actively involved in the McLean Presbyterian Church children and youth program as well as service initiatives in the Washington D.C. area.

Intentional Service to Others

Capital Fellows work closely together to know the Lord, explore his calling in their lives and serve others. Each year, the fellows start as a group of strangers and finish as a group of close friends. Through retreats, weekly Roundtables, classes and shared projects, the fellows grow into a tight-knit community.

About The Program

Paid internships in the Washington D.C. area are an integral part of the Capital Fellows program. The internships not only give the fellows an opportunity to launch their professional careers. They also provide the opportunity to apply what they are learning about faith and work, vocation, service and leadership in a real work setting. The internships are also an outstanding opportunity for fellows to start building professional networks and relationships in the nation’s capital.
